British Standard BS 7176: 2007 allows premises to be divided into different categories of fire hazard.

 

Within each category, test methods are defined in BS 5852: 2006 indicate the resistance to ignition. This should then allow you to select the appropriate fabric for the premises, as follows.

 

  Low Hazard BS7176 Medium Hazard BS7176
Test Methods BS EN 1021 1/2 Resistance to Ignition Sources cigarette and match BS 5852: 2006 Section 4 Resistance to Ignition Sources 0, 1, 5 (cigarette & match and crib 5) BS 5651 (1989), Pass Water Soak Test
